Community Outreach Projects

Artist Statement

Why it's important to Maintain Social Outreach with the Community while practicing a creative profession.

While in pursuit of a creative profession, It's important to look around and see how your skills trade can benefit the neighborhood around you. Collaborating with local small businesses on small projects for marketing or promotional content, ensures that I am continually Investing my skills into the community I live in.

By investing in the environment, the social and political balance in my local district, I can practice my art with intentionality. Putting the practice of responsible creativity in motion. Over the years I've donated the my time to various small businesses, non-profit organizations and political campaigns.

This business approach is intended to promote growth in the long term for me and the community. By generating collaborative communities that make networks of people IRL. By hosting events, taking photos, making graphics and websites we help each other at ground level.

9 Round Videos - Brooklyn 2020 - Bed Stuy
9 Round at Nostrand Ave in Brooklyn is one of the best gym experiences in Brooklyn. Owned by some cool people who also train you like crazy, you get to enjoy, learn and practice physical fitness in a safe and energetic environment.

Shot these videos in January of 2020 and they were edited for March 2020, but then New York shut down due to the Pandemic. 9 Round used the videos later on when in 2020 when gyms started re-opening again.

Member Testimonial Interviews for 9Round Brooklyn, January 2020

I was inclined to make this shoot collaboration happen because I wanted to test out the (at the time ) new Black Magic Pocket Cinema Camera 6K. It was a simple set-up with some creative lighting choices. A Sunday afternoon non-workout gym activity at my local Kickboxing gym.

Dominicans Love Haitians Movement - Brooklyn 2020
Dominican's Love Haitians Movement is an organization that strives to cause social change with the local Dominican and Haitian community and the countries in the Caribbean.

Shot these videos in January of 2020 , but had to pause the edit construction series due to the Pandemic. I've submitted this project in tandem with a previous documentary series to develop a feature film document about the relationship between the Dominican Republic and Haiti.

Member Testimonial Interviews for The Dominicans Love Haitians Movement Brooklyn 2020

I met Clarivel Ruiz, the founder of the Dominican's Love Haitians Movement during an event at local Crown Heights coffee shop. Together we collected several green screen interviews that I plan to composite into a feature Documentary about the complexities of the relationship between the two countries. This is still a work in progress, these videos are draft composites.

Wellness Tea Therapy - Brooklyn 2019
Wellness Tea Therapy Opened its doors to Brooklyn in Fall of 2019. They offered a wholesome approach to a hot winter drink. Beginning Late October 2019, I frequented Wellness Tea Therapy and collaborated with them to create community oriented projects and events. Here's pictures of Just a few.

Shot these videos in December 2019, during the the Ribbon Cutting ceremony at Wellness Tea Therapy.

During the Fall of 2019 and lasting Until Spring 2020 Wellness Tea Therapy hosted a variety of community event geared at promoting overall wellness, creativity an business networks in Crown Heights/Bed Stuy Brooklyn.

Friday Nights were filled with engaging cultural experiences. People of all ages would gather for a cup of tea, music, a fancy outfit and conversation with the neighbors. In this manner a Tea shop in Brooklyn can help elevate the overall quality of life in the community.

Open Mic Nights at Wellness Tea Therapy opened the door for familiar practice, where people could feel comfortable sharing their thoughts and talents to the community.

One cool high light from this series of events was the Moshood Fashion show which featured Jewerely from local artists and iconic models.
