Flocabulary Animation Work

From 2022 - Dilenia has worked on animations for Nearpod's Flocabulary that are musical/rap vocabulary and grammar lessons for kids. She developed the illustrations, animation and character design for various lessons.

Train sketches for the Paul Bunyan Story board. I made these on the train on the way to Washington D.C so I had to do some hand drawing which allowed me to quickly map out the shots I wanted to incorporate in the animatic.

Video Projects for Flocabulary

"The Untold History of Blood Banking" - Story of Dr. Charles Drew the scientist who developed the chemistry for blood donations.

"Thutmose and the Sphinx" - Story of Thutmose IV of Egypt and his quests.

"Paul Bunyan" - The jolly giant lumber jack and his loyal bestie ox Babe.

Original Thutmose IV sketches without a shirt on. After review of the content, Natasha the art director for this project, got back to me about giving him a shirt to wear. since these videos are made for school age children we don't wan to create any issues with mature content looks.

Animating and Editing on a Cintiq Tablet

Working on a Wacom Cintiq tablet is my go to for editing long projects, animated and otherwise. The precision of the pen tool allows me to work on the tiniest details of a composition with ease. Previously a pen tablet user, I switched to the Cintiq, because it provides the added benefit of being a secondary travel monitor for mobile jobs.

Animatic Sketch - Storyboard Sketch

Flocabulary animation projects have deliverable checkpoints every few weeks to check on the progress on the animation and catch any changes in the design. This is an animatic frame for the Paul Bunyan Video, it shows the basic compositions and actions of the shot.

Animation Project Workflow

For the Untold History of Blood Banking, the animation was collaged with footage of the historical events being talked about in the song. the animatic sketches for the designed were meant to showcase my intentions with depicting the blood cells on the animation and the color applications.
